Master of Arts in European Political and Governance Studies
The programme of the Political and Governance Studies Department is the perfect preparation for those pursuing careers in EU governance, be it in the European institutions, national administrations, non-governmental organisations, or in the private sector.
Three compulsory courses and a course on European General studies in the first semester offer students a solid background on the political, economic, and legal workings of the EU; the second semester builds on this, starting with the Simulation Game and allows you to further specialise in areas of interest through optional courses, a research seminar, and workshops on professional development.
Unique learning environment
Close to the heart of Europe, its key actors and professionals, the College provides ample opportunities to interact with policy makers – both in Bruges and Brussels. The College takes care of everything else, you can focus on your studies.
High-level education provided by a mix of seasoned practitioners and top-notch academics. Dynamic professors, small-group teaching and an award-winning one-month simulation game. The EPPA-option offers an innovative cross-over between economics and political science.

This one-year’s postgraduate master of arts programme in EU Politics gives students a firm grounding in EU institutions and policies.
Olivier COSTA, Director of Studies
In addition to the general admission requirements of the College of Europe, students admitted to the Department of European Political and Governance Studies in Bruges should fulfil certain specific language requirements. The Department’s access to French track will, under specific conditions, allow a selection of students to improve their level of French while completing the programme.
Our Alumni Network
Besides the network of the College, the Political and Governance Studies Department has a proud tradition of bringing its alumni in touch through alumni groups, such as the Energy Group or the Student Association for Gender Equality (SAGE) and regularly invites alumni of the department to provide current students with professionalization and networking opportunities.
The fees for the general programme of 25.000 € cover tuition (tuition, registration, examinations) and board and lodging (accommodation, wireless internet, meals except lunch and dinner on Sundays and public holidays).
